For the last three years I have participated in Share Our Strength's Great American Bake Sale. Each year I have held the event in Riverside (twice at the Riverside Plaza, once downtown near the Mission Inn). But this year I would really like to host the sale in Redlands (where I currently live), because I love the downtown area and the community feel. My sale started small the first year, but I have increased our goal steadily each year, making the event much bigger each year. I want to make thi… Continue
Can this town save itself? What is wrong with updating the downtown? What is with the reluctance to change? What are we going to lose? We moved to this city about a year ago. We chose Redlands because it was the only city in San Bernardino County that seemed safe and worth living in. Since our move I view this town as a lazy, sleeping sloth. Yes, lazy is a good word. People talk about safekeeping the old ways of Redlands......I think people are lazy to effect change. That would cause some thinki… Continue
Good morning - We were burglarized Monday 12/21 sometime between 8:30am and 1:20pm. We moved to the South side of Redlands in February of 2009 from south Orange County. We have tried to get acclimated and integrated in our new community. Frequently spending our money locally and donating to local charities. Neither of us have ever been robbed. The suspect came in through a side gate and kicked in our backdoor. They took everything: Christmas gifts for the kids all of my jewelry every small elect… Continue
Big brother watching? I am reminded of several movies when I see those white boxes with the black eyes on the bottom littered around downtown. One of movies that comes to mind over and over is The Truman show. An ever watching eye. I understand the reasoning behind these police tools and to date we have seen some successful arrests like drunk drivers and drug arrests. But to what end will these be used? Who is overseeing the process? Are there some privacy issues being abused? Am I just paranoid… Continue
I have taken some beautiful pictures of Redlands and would like to know where I could display them. I thought City Hall or U of R would be a good place. Does anyone know how I could go about doing this?
Thank you.

My daughter ran away from the Loma Linda BMC during an adolescent therapy session on Monday 11/2/2009 at 5:20 PM. No one has heard from her since and we desperately need anyone who has information related to her disappearance to contact the Redlands police department or myself. She is possibly posing as an 18yr old. She goes by the nickname "Lexy" and other than the members of her therapy group she doesn't know anyone in Redlands or the surrounding cities.
Ran away from the behavioral medical… Continue

There is a greater concentration of "money" in Redlands than anywhere in the Inland Empire, and yet there are NO JOBS! What is a man to do when he is trying to 'give back' to the community he came from, and NO opportunities exist? Never heard of UCLA, huh? Continue

I was astonished to see a flurry of press releases enter into our feed this morning, stating that San Bernardino County's unemployment was 12.8%. This compares to the 11.2% for California and the 9.1% across the nation. Click here if you are interested in all the Inland Empire Unemployment numbers.
These horrible numbers follow my visit to an art show of graduates from the Art Institute of the Inland… Continue

The results were farily decisive, with San Bernardino county showing 70% to 30% results.

Here is some video from the Redlands Tea Party, that was on the corners of Redlands Blvd & Orange St. I would say that there at least 250 people there, but may have ballooned up to 500. It was at least 4 times the size of any of the Anti-War groups that have protested in the past.
