Big brother watching? I am reminded of several movies when I see those white boxes with the black eyes on the bottom littered around downtown. One of movies that comes to mind over and over is The Truman show. An ever watching eye. I understand the reasoning behind these police tools and to date we have seen some successful arrests like drunk drivers and drug arrests. But to what end will these be used? Who is overseeing the process? Are there some privacy issues being abused? Am I just paranoid? Maybe a little?

Perhaps the Redlands PD should focus their efforts on stopping crime rather then "Watching" everyone. Crime is on the rise and nothing is being done to stop it.

I would add that I have been in the control room and talked to the former City Information Director about the placement of the cameras. One thing, they placed them so that they could not directly look into local business, which he showed me - it could not see us working in our RedFusion Media office. Second, it amazes me how many times there isn't anyone watching when there are issues/crimes in Ed Hale Park accross from us on State Street.
