Redlands Woman Publishes Book for Baby Boomers

Darlene Merkler, a resident of Redlands just published her second book entitled The Complete Resource Guide for Baby Boomers. The book is a compilation of 19 authors, each writing about their field of expertise. All of the topics are directed to adult children of aging parents and more specifically the Baby Boomer Generation.

The Baby Boomers were born between the years 1946 and 1964 and make up the largest segment of the population right now. Baby Boomers are between the ages of 45 and 63 which puts their parents at an age that they may be starting to need additional help.

After working in senior health care for 20 years, Darlene felt there was a need to put all the answer to questions she has heard from families in one place. So there is a chapter written by an Elder Law Attorney talking about what legal matters you need to consider and what documents need to be in place in order to property care for your parents. There is a chapter on Medicare and one on Medi-Cal. Since Darlene’s business is helping families with the placement process, she wrote a chapter about the different living choices as we age and when it is time to place. Each chapter has questions at the end to help the adult child assess where they are with that particular topic and blank note pages.
