Tough Times Locally, Unemployment Rate at 12.8% for San Bernardion County

I was astonished to see a flurry of press releases enter into our feed this morning, stating that San Bernardino County's unemployment was 12.8%. This compares to the 11.2% for California and the 9.1% across the nation. Click here if you are interested in all the Inland Empire Unemployment numbers.

These horrible numbers follow my visit to an art show of graduates from the Art Institute of the Inland Empire on Tuesday. At that event, I was genuinely impressed with the skill and preparedness of the students to enter the market place. A year ago, I might have hired some of them on the spot, but in this market it is pretty depressing to see that the hard work of completing your degree will not be rewarded right away.
